Ineffective recycling is a major issue plaguing the Earth today. One of the biggest culprits of this inefficiency is plastic products. There are many different types of plastics organized by numbers 1-7, but most people are unable to tell them apart. To address this problem, I designed an app that allows you to take a picture of the plastic waste and categorize it into recycling and non-recycling plastics.

This app is designed to increase awareness of the different types of plastics and teach people how to recycle these plastics more efficiently. This app was designed with campaign promotional materials to help draw attention and increase app users.

PLAAPP

The goal of the Plaapp design is to be as simple as possible, allowing any age group to use it with ease. It only requires the user to take a simple photo of the uncertain plastic object or plastic number. The app will then determine whether the product can be recycled or not.

Once the app generates the information for the user, the user can then easily share the info with friends or post it onto any social media platform. This “Share” feature allows the user to educate family and friends on recycling plastics.
